Diablo Mountain & Summer Lake

Summer Lake and Diablo Mountain encompass thousands of acres of public lands and one of the largest Wilderness Study Areas in the United States just an hour southeast of fast-growing Bend, Oregon. This beautiful and scenic area is home to mule deer, California bighorn sheep, snowy plover, and one of the country’s largest populations of snow geese. Summer Lake is a large, shallow, alkali lake that dries in the summer and fills during the wet season. A key stop on the Pacific flyway, Summer Lake supports hundreds of thousands of migratory birds in the spring and fall. At 6151 ft, the peak of Diablo Mountain offers sweeping views of Summer Lake.
