Burma Rim is located 10 miles northeast of Summer Lake, between the Oregon towns of Christmas Valley and Wagontire. The rim is the remnant of a prehistoric shoreline, when a giant lake dominated the landscape.

History and aviation buffs can find some intriguing history at Burma Rim’s outdoor Air Crash Museum. The “museum” is the site of two plane wrecks just one mile apart, but separated by 30 years. In 1945, a WWII Lockheed P-38 Lightning crashed during a training flight. Then in 1973, a Vietnam-era Navy Grumman A-6 Intruder Bomber crashed during a low-level night training mission. A federal historic site, memorial signs honor the fallen. For directions, contact the Bureau of Land Management Lakeview Field Office.
