The Playa parcel is part of the ODLT’s Summer Lake Area Conservation Opportunity Area (COA #189).

This “diverse and extensive wetland complex” serves as an important stop-over for thousands of migratory birds traveling up the Pacific Flyway. Seasonal rains and snowmelt fill the wetlands in fall, winter and spring. In the summer, the playa bakes dry.

The area features specialized habitats including alkali grasslands, rock habitats, salt desert scrub and springs.

This area currently has no road access.
